| If your landscape needs a change, you may be thinking about doing some transplanting. While transplanting any plant is no small chore, most plants are easier to move while they are in their winter dormancy. Keep in mind, some trees or large bushes are just too big or well established to survive after transplanting. But in the case of smaller and younger plants, if you can move the root ball, then you can transplant the plant. Prepare for transplanting just before the early winter freeze or as soon as the ground is workable in late winter.
The other thing I've learned the hard way, is that you should plan ahead on how you want to store the hay. A hay barn or shelter is ideal. If you don't have one, but have extra stalls, those work fine. In a pinch, you can use the garage of your house, or store hay on pallets with a tarp wrapped around the hay to protect it from the weather. Where ever you store your hay, if you feed more than one kind, make sure you can access both kinds over the winter. Don't put all the alfalfa in the back of the barn, and all the grass hay in front of the alfalfa, blocking your access. If you store it in an empty stall, put alfalfa along one side and grass along the other side, so you can access both types of hay from beginning to end.

When it comes to choosing a fireplace one has many options, such as traditional gas or wood burning fireplaces, or modern electric fireplaces. Though having a real (traditional) fireplace is much better, it can be quite a hassle to maintain. Electric heaters on the other hand, have several positive benefits that cannot obtain from the traditional ones.

As we settle into the autumn months, we begin to think less of regular lawn mowing chores and begin to think more about raking and blowing leaves. You may have just mowed for the last time of the season or will be doing so within the next week or two. However, there are a few things you should do before storing that lawn mower away for the season to ensure its proper performance when you need it again next spring. Last year, we unintentionally stored our lawn mower in the garage after the last mowing of autumn with a bit of gas still left in the mower's tank. There was also a little gas still left in the gas can. When mowing season returned again the following spring, when we attempted to mow the lawn, the mower wouldn't start properly. After repeated attempts to start the mower with no success, we took the mower in to be repaired.
These were just a few vacation spots in California that are ideal for a winter visit. There are plenty of other places which are worth visiting at least once. Fun filled Disneyland resort, the historic Golden Gate Bridge, the beautiful Monterey Bay Aquarium, Death Valley, Big Bear Lake, the magnificent California Giant Redwoods, Napa Valley Wine Country to name a few. Before concluding, another activity that you cannot afford to miss is paddle surfing and whale watching along the central California coast, between Monterey and San Diego. California travel will be an amazing experience for you, if you're able to visit some or all the places mentioned here.

And they are beautiful enough to justify this sort of singling out. With cupped bowls of colour enclosing a delicate little flower centre, the whirls of stamens are exquisite. There are many species, each with plenty of variety. For absolute beginners, try a hybrid. Garden centres and nurseries will have plenty of choices over the next few weeks, and you will find gorgeous dark purples and blues to choose from.
